Half Price Books

Ila and I drove to the outskirts of Houston and stopped at the used book store just off Highway 6 this evening. This takes a lot of courage for a country boy to go so near a big city; but I needed a document for some research I am doing. It may stretch credibility a bit, but in particular I was looking for the February 1993 issue of Playboy Magazine for an article (about police brutality) in that particular issue.
While looking in the hunting section, I noticed three major knife books. One was an encyclopedia of knives, one was on hunting knives, and one talked about modern hunting knives. To tell the truth, I can not get up enough interest to buy one and read it. Except for the unavailability of a really effective hog-stripping knife, I am content with the knives I have settled upon during 46 years of hunting big game.
I hope some knife affectionados are willing to read some knife books and report here in the Books about Knives posts section. I did see some pretty pictures -- in the knife books, that is.

P.S. Box cutting knives work fairly well for stripping hogs. Many of the Winnfield Parish, Louisiana hunters use box cutting utility knives for that purpose.
P.P.S. Surprise! They actually had a copy of the magazine. I am going to go and do some research in it right now.
