So the other day, I was out at the Ranch, and while waiting on Maverick and JW to show up I decided to take a couple of shots with the bow. I shot a couple of times with the practice block and got comfortable.
Then I saw some robin's(the little birds) and decided that would be fun to shoot at. I stalked behind a burn pile, and took a 30 yard shot at the little bird. The arrow was straight, and looked to have gone right through the bird. But it flew off, and I missed. I go to get my arrow and see some birds across the fence. I sneak up behind a tree, draw, and step out. 41 yards away is a robin, I release. It didn't look as good as the first one, but after I saw the arrow ricochet off the ground, and all the birds flew off again. Except for the one I was aiming at. It was flopping around. I shot off his top part of his beak!!! I stabbed it with an arrow to end it's suffering.
Then while walking around, I noticed 5 hogs that were killed a week or two ago, then I saw a black thing in the woods!!! Holy crap, I nocked an arrow and got around 20 yards away. I saw it wasn't a hog:( But a large black bird. I shot, and it started hopping around. The sun was in my eyes, so I thought maybe I missed. I nocked another, shot and it looked to be right through the middle of the bird. It was so hard to see, so I adjusted, shot a few more times around 15 yards, then I ran out of broadheads. I hit everytime, but the stupid bird had so many feathers. I finally see it looks wounded, and I have 2 practice arrows(I took 6 total arrows-4 broadheads and 2 practice). I shoot the practice arrows in it, and they don't go all the way through. The second one stuck through it's body and through the neck. Ending the stupid birds life quickly.
I finally got some moving target practice, and feel confident enough to take on a pig one day.....I sat and tried to get one while there, but none showed:(
