A good sign
for all feral hog hunters is upon us! February 18, 2007
marked the first day of the Chinese New Year and it just so
happens to be the year of the Boar! So, if your
hunting has been a little lacking in game keep a positive
focus. It will pick up!
What's new at the WBC? Well,
I'm glad you ask! Thanks to this great technology coined
"the world wide web" we can share our various insight and
experiences about hunting our feral prey. With that
said, we've added a few new topics to
forums at the WBC. They're
listed below:
1. Making Bacon: Feral Hog
Recipes
2. Knives (In the tools
section): Tell us about your favorite hunting knife.
3. Archery: There are many archer's
out there in the feral hog hunting community. Share your
views on the many different bows & arrows used.
4. Knives (In the Book
Notes section): Read a good knife book or maybe a bad one?
Let us know what material you've found useful or not so
useful.
So, create a forums login
and let us share your views on any or all of the above
topics plus any of the ones already there. If you have any
problems or questions just send me an email at

Hello! Maverick
here. Things have been a little busy (ok, a lot busy!) so I
have not had much time to work on the WBC site. For those who
have stop by and return I appreciate the visits and thank you for
coming back. In the next couple of weeks there will be new
photos and videos posted on the site! I also plan to have a full
Swine forum open in the same time frame, much better than our
current chat area! Now, I apologize to Rick S. and
Looney who posted questions through the contact maverick form as
I was not aware that the email field was not working correctly. That
little problem has now been fixed, so please continue send your
ideas and/or questions by using the form at
contact Maverick! As to the
questions ask:
Rick S.:
Q: Where to find Craig Marquette and
Dave Sturkey's Wild Hog Hunting book from the WBC Book Notes
area?
A: Rick, Mr. Marquette
and Mr. Sturkey's book can be found at Amazon.com. Click this title
link: Wild Hog Hunting
. As of
today, it sells for 11.56 + shipping and such. Hope you enjoy
it. Please leave us your feed back on the book if you purchase
it.
Looney:
Q: What to do to attract our feral
friends?
A: Well Looney, we've used all sorts
of things but the most successful have been deer corn! At
times we've dug a 2.5 - 3 foot post hole and filled it. We've
also had success using fermented corn after letting is soak in water
for some time. It carries a good strong smell! I'll get
some input from the rest of the WBC crew and pass that along to you
also soon. Hope this helps and best of luck on your hunt.
Ok... That's it for now. Be sure
to send a photo to
maverick@wildboarclub.com and I'll add it to the WBC Wall of
Fame. If you have any issues sending them please let me know.
